Starting in the late 1940s, many people started to realize that UFOs are real due to the sheer volume of credible sightings reported. Adding fuel to the fire, another wave of UFO sightings occurred in 1952. During the month of July, there was a rash of sightings across Washington D.C. that defied explanation. In fact, Washington DC UFOs have been reported in numerous waves since then as well.
Perhaps the most notable incident occurred on July 19th of that year when multiple radar operators reported observing several unidentified objects moving at extraordinary rates of speed near Andrews Air Force Base. Air Force personnel also reported seeing unknown orange objects in the same area as the radar reports.
As Senior Air Traffic Controller Harry Barnes described it – “They were not ordinary aircraft… I can safely say that they performed gyrations which no known aircraft could perform.”

The wave of sightings over Washington in July 1952 was so widely discussed that the Air Force even had a press conference to discuss the occurrences. In the meeting, General John Samford discussed concern about “a certain percentage of this volume of reports that have been made by credible observers of relatively incredible things.”
So maybe UFOs haven’t landed on the White House lawn, but they have been photographed over the nation’s capital. What are your thoughts on the 1952 Washington DC UFOs?
